Dear students and visitors,
Today more than ever, it is clear we are faced with understanding what it truly means to be a global citizen in our communities.  One of the greatest challenges in becoming more culturally competent is to find the right opportunities and experiences to expand one’s worldview. It is our belief that by living in a different country and learning a different language, one will develop the valuable cultural awareness skills needed to succeed in our dynamically changing and interconnected world.

The mission of Spanish Immersion Costa Rica is to provide international education at its best with a safe and stimulating environment to learn about Latin culture and the Spanish language.

Our location and facilities are located in the remarkable small town of Atenas.

Our strong relationships within the community enable our students to partake in many cross cultural experiences like living with a trusted homestay family, participating in important ongoing community service projects related to the environment and social services, as well as, learning Latin dance, cooking tropical dishes, and celebrating special holidays and traditions.

Additionally, development of foreign language communication skills, especially Spanish, is more and more necessary in the today’s diverse work, school, and community environments.

We are committed to delivering high quality Spanish instruction through innovative methods that combine our own textbooks we designed with Spanish as Second Language professionals at the University of Costa Rica, as well as, real life experiential learning interactions with the community.

Becoming fully immersed in the daily rhythms and routines of a particular community will accelerate one’s cultural understandings and language acquisition.

To ensure a well rounded cultural educational experience we also believe it is important to be involved in excursions to other Costa Rican communities and geographic areas. We understand that exploring the incredible environmental and cultural diversity within Costa Rica requires adventures and investigations to the beach, rainforest, and volcanoes to investigate current issues affecting the ecosystems and people.
