SPANISH/ESL EDUCATOR PROGRAM
This program is specifically designed to enrich the educational experience of Spanish and ESL (English as a Second Language) teachers as well as possible special groups of students. For Spanish language instructors, Spanish language classes are conducted at an advanced level and for ESL instructors, appropriate language learning goals are determined. There is an in-depth focus to understand and become more aware of customs and traditions of the Latin culture. Teachers live with a local host family in Atenas and participate in many community activities.
Activities Include:
- Visit and assist at local Spanish speaking schools
- Explore Volcano Poas and a 100 year-old goldmine with waterfalls
- National Culture Museum and National Theater of Costa Rica
- Meet a Mentor & Community Service Project
- Latin Dance Classes & Costa Rica Cooking Classes
- Organic Coffee and Hydroponic Lettuce Farms
- Weekly cross-cultural conversation with Costa Rican students
- Pacific Coast Beach - Playa Esterillos Oeste
10-DAY ITINERARY (May be adapted to specific learning goals and length of time)
